Changing the tires on your Infiniti crossover will alter how it performs in different conditions. You probably know not to use your snow tires in the summer, but how much else do you know about picking the right tires? If you want a crossover that handles beautifully off-road, you’ll want completely different tires than if you spend most of your time on the highway. Likewise, trying to save a few bucks detracts from your crossover’s handling, a compromise many Infiniti drivers won’t want to make.

Think About Tire Size

The tire size on your crossover will change how it performs. Plus-size tires come with a shorter sidewall. When you notice cars with large rims and tires you can barely see, that vehicle has plus-size tires. With plus-size tires, you’ll get a better response time and more fine-tuned handling. You may also want to try upsizing. Instead of decreasing the size of the sidewall, pick out taller, wider tires. On SUVs, these are especially beneficial if you need better traction or have to carry a heavy load.

Consider Quality

Everyone loves a bargain, but when it comes to your Infiniti SUV’s tires, you don’t want to snap up the cheapest option you can find. Instead, look at how many miles the tires are guaranteed for. More expensive tires will be guaranteed for more miles; you’ll pay more now, but you won’t have to replace them as quickly. Alternatively, you can check out the Uniform Tire Quality Grading, the traction ratings, and the temperature ratings to help you decide.

Look at Speed Ratings

Your vehicle is rated for a specific speed. In the United States, it’s legal to buy a tire that’s rated for a lower speed, which is a way some people save money on their tires. When you get a tire with a lower speed rating, it affects how fast your vehicle can go and how well it handles. Your Infiniti crossover SUV was designed with a specific top speed in mind, and the engineers designed the handling for those tires. If you downgrade, your luxury vehicle probably won’t handle like a luxury vehicle anymore.

Determine Driving Conditions

Where are you usually driving your crossover? Do you spend a lot of time on the highway, or are you driving mountain roads outside of Charlotte? The tires that give you the best off-roading and inclement weather performance will make your Infiniti sound louder on the highway. If you try to use your all-season tires in the mud, however, you’re way more likely to get stuck. Even on mountain dirt roads, your all-season tires won’t grip or handle as well as all-terrain tires. You can get highway tread, all-purpose, all-terrain, or mud terrain, depending on where you drive the most.
