Since its release in 2007, the Infiniti QX50 has undergone slight adjustments over the years. In 2016 though, the QX50 gets a fresh new look that includes a series of exterior updates, a more aggressive stance, and a more spacious cabin. It’s been a long time coming for the 2016 QX50.

It was initially unveiled at the 2015 New York International Auto Show. Now the wait is over. The all-new QX50 will be shipped this fall to dealerships throughout the United States, and we couldn’t be more excited at Lake Norman Infiniti. The updated crossover is sleeker, more stylish and roomier than ever before. It’s the best QX50 yet, and our customers will have the chance to step behind the wheel soon.

As the new QX50, which was formerly known as the Infiniti EX37, becomes available, the Lake Norman Infiniti team wanted to highlight some of the most significant upgrades. Here are a few of our favorites.

Features and Specs

The biggest changes are to the exterior of the 2016 Infiniti QX50. The wheelbase has been extended, the available alloys are redesigned, and there are new accents across the exterior. These updates include:

  • Extended Wheelbase: The new QX50 is longer; the wheelbase has been extended 3.2 inches, and the crossover is 4.3 inches longer overall. This results in a more aggressive, SUV-like stance, and adds serious legroom for second-row passengers.
  • Updated Front, Rear Fascias: Both the front and rear have been updated. The front fascia features a new bumper and updated silver grille, as well as LED headlight accents. In the rear, the bumper has been updated and new features a silver chrome accent.
  • New Silver Accents: New silver side sills run down both sides of the 2016 QX15. This feature, however small, adds to the elegance of the crossover’s exterior.

Same Great Performance
Engine Specs and Features

The engine remains the same great 3.7-liter V6 that delivers efficient power of 325 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. The engine is controlled with a seven-speed automatic transmission, and it receives 17/24 MPG city/highway.

This year, there are two versions: The base RWD QX50 and an AWD QX50. Both receive the same MPG and they are both equipped with the 3.7-liter V6.

Interior Upgrades in the 2016 QX50

As mentioned, the new QX50 is larger, which results in more passenger space. Overall, the QX50 features 8.3 cubic feet of added passenger volume, or 4.3 inches of extra legroom in the rear seats. Overall, though, the interior features a similar design to previous versions.

This year, there are a number of packages that drivers can opt for adding innovative technology to the cabin. These packages include:

  • Premium: The premium package adds an updated stereo system, an 11-speaker BOSE audio system, as well as memory seating systems for both front seats.
  • Premium Plus: With Premium Plus, drivers receive access to Infiniti’s Intelligent Navigation system, which features real-time weather and traffic updates. Plus, the package also includes a useful voice recognition system.
  • Deluxe Touring: The touring package is all about cabin comfort and drivability. Features include Adaptive Front headlamps, newly redesigned 19-inch alloy wheels, and an 8-way power adjustable drivers’ seat.
