The QX80 Monograph

Major events like the New York International Auto Show sometimes ask more questions than they answer. Concept cars roll out that shock and delight the public, with everyone wondering if they’ll ever see that particular car again. In this case, the 2018 QX80 Monograph made quite a splash this year as the potential version of the SUV that will ultimately come out toward the end of the year. See what all the fuss is about.

The Monograph

2018 QX80 Profile

The name of the game with the Monograph is all about design, as the Monograph gives a major makeover to its QX80 predecessor. The Monograph features eye-like headlights, piano key taillights, and a lower center of gravity. In particular, everyone from spokespeople to casual participants wanted to comment on the QX80 Monograph’s wheels. Those who represented the company wondered aloud if they could even make their bold two-tone design on a larger scale, but attendees were thrilled at the 24″ rims and the overall look of the car. INFINITI is gauging the public reaction before moving forward with any plans. This is their attempt to make every vehicle in their line as cohesive as possible. It doesn’t mean that every product they offer will look exactly the same, but they do want everyone on the road to be able to spot an INFINITI without having to check the nameplate.

Strength and Speculation in New York

INFINITI knew they would unveil their concept car in New York City because of their strong prescence in the bustling metropolis. Every one in five vehicles sold is in this area, so it made sense to heavily target this show to determine what the next few months would look like. While the company wouldn’t comment about the specs of the car, they did say that the engine would be superb. Car enthusiasts have speculated that it will keep the 5.6L V8 that has been so well regarded in the QX80, but the exact technology under the hood is really anyone’s guess. Considering this car seemed to debut very well, it wouldn’t be out of line to predict that the model coming out at the end of the year will look similar to the one they showed last month.

The Flagship of INFINITI

Even if the Monograph model never makes it to mass production, the QX80 is not going anywhere. The Vice President of INFINITI America, Randy Parker, has said that this is their flaship SUV. It sells up to 1,500 units every month, mainly due to its combination of incredible towing power and luxury. Families who need to tow their boat back and forth to the water can load up their gear, hop on in, and then hit the road. The design of INFINITI (regardless of which model you speak of) is sculpted to make a bold impression both in the market and on the road. Owners continuously report high satisfaction and value ratings long after they purchase their vehicles, which only serves to boost sales even higher.
