2018 INFINITI Q50

The 2018 INFINITI Q50 arrives with a slew of improvements that will satisfy even the pickiest of drivers. The refreshed Q50 will likely be one of the top-selling compact sports sedans as it is loaded with sleek new exterior stylistic improvements, numerous interior upgrades and plenty of high-tech goodies. The ’18 version of the Q50 is available in several new trim levels to boot:

  • Pure
  • Sport
  • Luxe
  • The cream of the crop, dubbed “Red Sport 400”

The 2018 Q50’s Styling Improvements

The new Q50 did not require a full redesign because its previous incarnation was quite easy on the eyes. However, the designers at INFINITI decided to add a few new visual elements to make the 2018 Q50 even more distinguishable:

2018 INFINITI Q50 Exterior
  • The vehicle’s headlamps are shaped like large eyes, providing quite the bold and intense look
  • The sides of the grille and the intakes have also been redesigned for enhanced visual flair
  • The hood features much deeper contouring and visually captivating character lines
  • Even the tail lamp graphics are brand new for the ’18 version of the Q50.
  • Step it on up to a Sport model and your ride will boast special design details ranging from lower and wider intakes to an eye-catching front bumper sculpted with perfect angular precision

A Refreshed Interior

2018 Q50 Interior

Hop on in the ’18 Q50 and you will find that the seating, dashboard, doors and just about everything else is made of high-grade materials. The interior of this year’s Q50 feels and looks much more upscale compared to previous incarnations. Even the stitching looks more refined. Lean back into the driver’s seat or one of the passenger seats and you will immediately notice the added spinal support. The new seats are designed to alleviate pressure from both the upper and lower portions of the back.

Improved Performance

The Q50 really delivers when it comes to power and agility. The suspension has been completely retuned. There is now a twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine with 3.0 liters and 400 horses available for those who have a penchant for power. You can also choose from 4-cylinder engines with 2.0 liters or a hybrid version.

Enhanced Safety for 2018

This year’s Q50 is the first INFINITI model to deliver collision-avoidance and driver-assistance systems under the ProPilot label. The aim of these systems is to ameliorate the challenges of driving in city traffic as well as highways that often feel like race tracks. The “Active Lane Control” technology helps drivers stay in their lane at all times. These systems deliver an array of other helpful safety technologies including:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Forward emergency braking
  • Backup collision/blind spot intervention
  • Predictive forward collision warning

The new Q50 also features a steer by wire system that is heavily anticipated by auto industry experts, INFINITI fans and engineering aficionados across the land. This technology helps the driver by delivering smooth operation, improved maneuverability and more of a direct response to steering commands. Industry insiders view the steer by wire technology as an important steppingstone toward the eventual autonomous operation of automobiles.
