Three Reasons to be Excited About the New Infiniti Q80 Concept Car

Infiniti’s latest concept car, the Q80 Inspiration sedan, was released at the LA Auto Show in late November. And we couldn’t be more excited at Lake Norman Infiniti. The Q80 boasts a bold new direction for the one of America’s favorite luxury car manufacturers. Here’s what’s most impressive: The Q80 is a truly powerful hybrid. That’s right: Not only is the Q80 Inspiration extremely powerful, but it’s also efficient, receiving an estimated 43 MPG.

But that’s not all. The Q80 has an elegant profile that keeps the new sedan close to the ground. This four-door is deceiving; it looks much more like a coupe. The concept car Q80 featured back suicide doors – which may or may not be available when it rolls off the production line – and a dramatically sloping roofline. Simply put, the Q80 Inspiration looks futuristic, while maintaining Infiniti’s classic style.

Here are a few reasons Lake Norman Hyundai is excited about this beast of a four-door. We’re not sure about when this sedan will be available, but we can’t wait.

1. Efficient Power: What’s Under the Hood of the Q80?

With the Infiniti Q80, you have a sedan that you can truly call efficient AND powerful. Here’s why. The Q80 is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 550-horsepower V6. It’s a beast of an engine:

  • Infiniti says the Q80 can go 0-60 MPH in less than 4 seconds.
  • The 3.0-liter V6’s top speed is 155 MPH.

But that doesn’t mean it’s a gas guzzler. Infiniti pegged the estimated MPG of the Q80 at an impressive 43 MPG. In some ways, this might signal a way of thinking about hybrids at Infiniti, especially considering the Q80 was Infiniti’s “statement of intent” about its future vehicles. Who knows, we might just see more Infiniti hybrids that can do double-duty on the racetrack in the future.

2. The Q80’s Sleek Profile:

Writing about the Q80, Wired magazine called the new Infiniti “by far the prettiest” at the LA Auto Show. Pretty. Sleek. Elegant. Whatever you want to call it, Infiniti has nailed the exterior design of the Q80.

The four-door is just over 16 feet long, but it keeps a low center of gravity. The roof line slopes quickly towards the tail, and the rear roof/back window is covered in a large V-shape glass design. Plus, the concept car also adds to the cool with back suicide doors. Here’s the thing: For a sedan, the Q80’s profile is extremely athletic and polished, and as a “statement of intent,” it can only signal good things about Infiniti’s future design plans.

3. An Efficient Use of Space Inside:

The interior of the Q80 features a minimalistic but elegant design. As a concept car, chances are the interior wasn’t what we’ll see when the car goes into production, but it did show promise. For instance, the front bucket seats looked roomy and comfortable, and even for a small backseat, the rear bucket seats looked like they delivered a fair amount of legroom. The Q80 also featured Infiniti’s now-signature dashboard-mounted touchscreen display; so expect to see a lot of technology when this rolls off the line. Plus, the interior perfectly complemented the Q80’s bold futuristic profile.

The Q80’s introduction was an impressive display. Many industry news sources and blogs wrote about how blown away by the design they were. We couldn’t agree more at Lake Norman Infiniti. Infiniti continues to engineer elegant and innovative luxury vehicles, and the Q80 Inspiration really highlights just how forward-thinking the Infiniti design is.
